The Fourth Industrial Revolution

by Klaus Schwab

As i'd been talking about the Fourth Industrial Revolution for some time, this book was a must read for me and i couldn't wait to learn more on Klaus Schwab  - world-renowned economist and founder of the World Economic Forum, views and opinions.  It didn't disappoint and was the best book of my 2018 reading by some way.

From the introduction through to its conclusion, the content is well positioned and clearly explained and covers some of the key factors driving digital transformation and explains the rationale behind their thinking and the mega trends driving the growth and impacts of technology.

Educating the reader on a wide range of topics from IoT (Internet of Things), Wearable's, AI, Big Data, Ubiquitous Computing, Bit Chain, and Driver-less Cars, and also the wider impacts on the us as the end users and the changes technology will have on us overall.

Well researched as expected from this authority on the topic and very clearly explained through out.  You don't need a degree to understand and follow the details.

If you can read only one from this list, this is it.

The Second Machine Age

by Erik Brynjolfsson & Andrew McAfee

Published in 2016 you could almost call out that this book is already out of date in our fast paced Digital World.  I'd agreed and while time will age any factual book on this topic, it doesn't take anything away from the purpose and intention of this really great read.

Giving some really great examples and explanations throughout, you have many moments of ' ah yes i get it' throughout and you'll find some many references points in your own lives and day to day experiences that it keeps you gripped

Well pitched and clear on the details as it guides you through a wide range of topics and the views from two industry heavyweights.
